Porsche Indonesia showcases performance, luxury and E-Mobility at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2022

Exciting Porsche line-up on display at Indonesia’s largest auto show

From 11 to 21 August 2022, Porsche Indonesia will return to Indonesia’s largest auto show, the 29th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Three highlight models will be on display at the Porsche booth, located at Hall 3 of the International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Bumi Serpong Damai (ICE BSD City): the all-electric Porsche Taycan Turbo, the advanced and athletic Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, and the track-ready 718 Cayman GT4.

GIIAS showcases the best from the automotive industry, and this year’s theme: “The Future is Bright,” highlights the positive growth of the automotive industry in Indonesia, as it continues to develop and welcome further technological advancements in the years to come.

“Electrification is the future of automotive development. Since the introduction of our first all-electric sports car in Indonesia with the Taycan, we have received very positive feedback. Our sales figures show strong demand for both the Taycan as well as our recently-introduced Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) models, the Cayenne and the Panamera E-Hybrid models,” said Michael Vetter, Managing Director of Porsche Indonesia.

“Today, we are excited to introduce an array of Porsche characters to a wider audience at Indonesia’s largest auto show. We also proud to support the Indonesian government’s commitment towards electrification by presenting strong Porsche E-Performance presence within our line-up,” concluded Mr. Vetter.

Soul, Electrified: The Porsche Taycan Turbo

The revolutionary Taycan, the first all-electric sports car from Porsche, links heritage with the future. It carries forward the success story of a brand that has fascinated and thrilled people the world over for more than 70 years, and offers pure Porsche performance with zero local emissions in either a Sport Saloon or Cross Turismo body style in Indonesia.

On display, the Taycan Turbo features two intelligent electric motors that generate up to 680 PS / 500 kW overboost power in combination with Launch Control, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, onto a top speed of 260km/h. This is possible thanks in part to a world-first two-speed transmission installed on the rear axle is an innovation developed by Porsche.

First gear gives the Taycan exceptional acceleration from a standing start, while second gear, with a longer gear ratio, ensures high efficiency. Following the latest MY ‚P‘ update announced in July 2022, the Taycan‘s front electric motor can be intelligently decoupled, and in combination with other energy optimising upgrades, range is boosted to a maximum of 512 kilometres (according to WLTP).

As the first production vehicle with a system voltage of 800 volts instead of the usual 400 volts for electric cars, the Taycan also benefits from exceptionally fast charging: Charging time from 5 to 80 percent SoC (state of charge) takes just 22.5 minutes under ideal conditions, and with just 10 minutes at a fast charger, owners can easily gain more than 100km of range.

With its clean, puristic design on the exterior and interior, the Taycan signals the beginning of a new era. At the same time, it retains the unmistakable Porsche design language. As with all models from Porsche, the Taycan features hundreds of personalisation options, from Paint to Sample palettes for the exterior, to hand-crafted Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur elements that can be added to the interior.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid: Powerfully innovative

The Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid combines power, innovation and utility in an unmatched package. Like all Porsche plug-in hybrids, it is one of the sportiest vehicles in the premium segment – not in spite of its hybrid powertrain but because of it.

A combined system output of 500 kW (680 PS) is derived from the intelligent interaction of a four-litre V8 engine (404 kW/550 PS) and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission (100 kW/136 PS). Maximum system torque of 900 Nm is available from just above idle. Despite its stature, the Cayene Turbo S E-Hybrid accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 295 km/h. This exceptional performance is matched by a high level of efficiency, as the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid can also be driven for up to 40 kilometres with zero local emissions.

The Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid comes with extensive factory-fitted equipment as standard: features include the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) electric roll stabilisation system, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) rear-axle differential lock, the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) high-performance brake system, 21-inch lightweight alloy wheels in Aero design including wheel arch extensions in body colour, Power Steering Plus, and the Sport Chrono Package. The adaptive three-chamber air suspension, including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), ensures a broad spectrum of typical Porsche driving dynamics and a comfortable ride. Up to 22-inch lightweight alloy wheels and rear-axle steering are also available as optional extras.

All Cayenne models feature LED headlights, a cruise control system with speed limiter function, camera-based pedestrian protection and Park Assist at the front and rear. Optional extras include LED matrix beam headlights, a head-up display, Night Vision with thermal imaging camera, and the Porsche InnoDrive digital co-pilot including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, road sign recognition, active lane guidance, junction assistant and emergency braking.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4: Our Racing DNA

The striking 718 Cayman GT4 was designed for sports car enthusiasts who appreciate a high level of agility and an almost intimate proximity to the centre of power.

The perfectly balanced mid-engined sports car features a four-litre, six-cylinder naturally aspirated boxer engine that generates 309 kW (420 hp), matched to a puristic six-speed manual transmission. The fascinating character of this naturally aspirated engine sees linear power delivery combined with the immediate response of a GT engine, with a maximum engine speed of 8,000 revolutions for maximum boxer engine aural thrills.

Another highlight of the 718 Cayman GT4 is its comprehensively improved aerodynamics concept. It produces up to 50 percent more downforce, without adversely affecting drag – proof of outstanding efficiency. A single-chamber arch rear silencer creates space in the rear section for a functional diffuser, which accounts for a good 30 percent of the downforce at the rear axle. The fixed rear wing is also marked by greater efficiency: it produces around 20 percent more downforce compared with its predecessor.

With its superior cornering dynamics, the high-performance GT chassis of the 718 Cayman GT4 provides an emotional driving experience. The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) damping system with 30 mm lower suspension lowers the centre of gravity and improves lateral dynamics potential. It is specifically designed for use on the racetrack and makes the mid-engine handling characteristics of the 718 Cayman GT4 sharp as a scalpel.

The Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear differential lock further enhances the longitudinal and lateral dynamics, cornering performance and driving pleasure. The high-performance brake system in the 718 Cayman GT4 provides stopping power that is suitable for track driving thanks to large aluminium monobloc fixed-calliper brakes. The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are also available as an option, for an overall package that allows the 718 Cayman GT4 to offer unadulterated driving pleasure.

Taycan test drives available on a unique indoor layout

Aligned with the focus on electrification at this year’s GIIAS, Gaikindo has prepared a dedicated indoor test-drive area for visitors to sample new electric vehicle offerings from manufacturers. Here, visitors will be able to experience Porsche’s first all-electric sports car, the Taycan Turbo.

Other Porsche models are available for test drives at the outdoor track: namely the Cayenne and Panamera E-Hybrid models as well as the popular Macan III, which was recently launched in Indonesia.

Porsche Indonesia will also showcase various Porsche Lifestyle items for enthusiasts to display their passion for the brand, ranging from accessories to apparel including Porsche Motorsport products on Saturday 13 July 2022 from 16:00 to 16:30 WIB.
